INTRODUCTION
Marine grade aluminum (grade alloy 6061-T5) is used in constructing
all ABL lifts. Which is the same material used for seawalls, bulkheads,
piers, yachts, seaplanes, pontoon boats, canoes, and a myriad of
other marine applications for the past 30 years.
Boating is a wonderful, pleasurable sport. Lifting systems have been designed
to add convenient access to your boat and help maintain its appearance
and performance. By following the guidelines and tips, you can optimize
the performance and use of your boat lift.
ABL Boat Lifts is proud to stand behind our products. As a boat owner
you have invested money in your boat lift to care and maintain your
boat. Be sure to apply the same wisdom to your boatlift, and safety
to your loved ones.
PLEASE READ COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING YOUR BOAT LIFT.

If you have any questions concerning the amount of weight your boat
lift is rated for, call your boats manufacturer or installer of
the unit.
Should you purchase a different boat, and are not sure whether or not your
lift will pick up the new boat, call a licensed marine contractor
to assist you.
SAFETY FIRST
Your boat lift, in most cases, is attached to supporting structures (pilings,
dock or concrete). They must be in good condition, and properly
installed, for proper performance of your lift.
~ Your "Boat Lift" is a moving mechanical system, which lifts
substantial amounts of weight. ~
Exercise extreme caution when operating your lift.
- NEVER operate the lift with passengers in the boat!
- NEVER allow children to operate the lift!
- NEVER stand under your lift for any reason!
- NEVER use an extension cord to temporarily operate your lift!
- NEVER use improper cable or clamping techniques!
Once your boat lift has been installed we recommend the following maintenance
and use guidelines.
LIFT OPERATION
When operating the lift, STOP IMMEDIATELY if anything appears wrong.
*USE A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN for all electrical work.
- Dock the boat aft of the lift to unload all personnel and gear.
- Then, using hand lines, guide the boat to the correct balance point.
- Raise the craft to just clear the water, check for proper positioning.
- Resume lifting if everything checks OK.
- If something is wrong, lower the boat and resolve the problem
before lifting the boat again.
LIFT MAINTENANCE
- Every six months lubricate worm gear assembly on your Power Hoist.
- When you hose your boat, hose the drive pipe & bottom cradle
when the lift is out of the water.
BELTS: Belts should be taut and straight on the large
and small pulley. Cracked belts need to be replaced.
CABLES:
Check cables
for signs of wear. Galvanized cables with a white powder spot indicate
that the cables should be changed. When stainless steel cables have
brayed burs along the cable, replace the cables. Boat Lift
cables have heavy tensioned loads, so inspect your cables frequently
(at least every six (6) months). ABL Boat Lifts uses specific cable
grades, lengths, and sizes. Call the manufacturer @ 1-800-780-5438
when your cables need replacing.
ELECTRIC:
The proper size wire, motor and amperage are needed to operate your
lift. A qualified, licensed electrician can assist you in evaluating
any and all of these factors. It is not advisable to do any electric
repairs, or installations, unless you are qualified to do so.
The
lift cannot be operated with extension cords.
Wiring
the two ¾ HP motors for a 220 VAC electrical supply instead
of 110 VAC reduces the amperage required. The resulting lower electrical
losses between power supply box and motors will increase the motors
reliability.
The ABL Aquatica
and Aquarius, have "zincs"
that protect your tracks from electrolysis from the water included
with their units. They should be hung into the water from a bolt
on the lift. For the first time check the zinc for any deterioration
within three (3) months. If the zinc shows any deterioration there
is an electrolysis problem, contact your installer. Thereafter,
check the zinc every six (6) months. When the zinc wears down to
half its size
call 1-800-780-5438 for replacement.
*These
lifts should be wired so they can be unplugged. This will prevent
electrolysis problems from any feed back in the electrical system.
Failure to do so will allow electrolysis to eat away at the tracks
of your lift that reach down into the water. This will result in
the tracks breaking.
